Eine Woche in Paris im Einführungsseminar der Ölservice Firma Schlumberger und ich bin immer noch begeistert! Ich bin hier gemeinsam mit 53 ex-Studenten aus der ganzen Welt, die alle keine Ahnung haben, wie ein Job bei Schlumberger aussieht. Mir gehts nicht anders! Ich höhre mir Vorträge an, über Sicherheit, Qualitätsmanagement, Gesundheit usw. aber bin recht planlos, wie die Arbeit selbst aussehen wird. Alle sagen mir Wireline (das Segment von Schlumberger, in dem ich gelandet bin) ist das zachste überhaupt und die Schule wird ein Horror und wir werden nie zum Schlafen kommen, nur mehr lernen,… Und man steht um 6 in der Früh auf, damit man noch ein Frühstück bekommt bevor man im Seminar ist und kommt um 7 am Abend ins Hotel zurueck, sucht sich noch schnell was zu essen, und ehe man sich versieht ist es Mitternacht! Aber trotzdem macht es Spaß… Paradox! One week in Paris in the beginner’s seminar of the oil service company Schlumberger and you know what? I still love it! Together with 53 young people, who just graduated from university (at least most of them) I’m enjoying lectures about security, safety, health, quality and so on. No one of us, though, knows what to expect of the job. Everyone tells you that you will have a hard time, with a lot of responsibility, no sleep and so on but on the other hand you see all those people, who are working for this company and most of them just don’t look different than you do. They might even be not much older than you. And you wonder if they are tougher than you, more intelligent than you and you just can’t decide, if you’re the right person for this job. During the seminar we get up at 6 in the morning and go to bed at midnight or later and listen to lectures for 8 hours a day, even on Saturday! Nevertheless it’s a lot of fun! I love it!

Unsere Flitterwochen - oder besser gesagt unser verlängertes Flitterwochenende - haben wir in der Hundertwasser-Therme Blumau verbracht. Sehr entspannend! Nicht nur, dass die Architektur ein Traum ist, wir konnten auch noch 36 Grad warmes Wasser, eine Ayurveda-Massage, eine Tresterpackung für zarte Haut und sowohl die hauseigene als auch die Blumauer Küche genießen. Das Wetter hätte nicht besser sein können - strahlender Sonnenschein tagsüber und klirrende Kälte in der Nacht (was besonders lustig ist, wenn man kurz aus dem Badewannen-warmen Wasser heraussteigt). Ein unvergessliches Wochenende! David and I spent our honeymoon in a beautiful spa in Blumau in Styria. This spa is designed by the famous Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser. He has quite a distinctive style in his buildings which I like very much. The spa itself was very relaxing! We bathed in 36 degrees celsius warm water, enjoyed an Ayurveda-massage and a pomace pack and tried out the cuisine of the spa hotel and of the local pub in Blumau. The weather couldn’t have been any better - bright sunshine during day and an icy chill during the night. (This was most fun, when we came out of the lukewarm water!) An unforgettable weekend!

David und ich haben heute geheiratet! Und zwar um 10 Uhr 20 im Standesamt Wien 8. Ich bin froh, dass ich es so früh schon hingeschafft habe, denn gestern habe ich ein bisschen zu heftig gefeiert! Eigentlich habe ich mir meinen Polterabend extra letzten Samstag eingeteilt, damit mir so etwas nicht passieren kann! Aber wann läuft etwas schon wie geplant? Gestern war ich nachfeiern, mit Judith, Johanna und Susanne, da sie letzte Woche keine Zeit hatten oder anderweitig verhindert waren… Wie auch immer - um ca. halb eins hab ich dann W.O. gegeben und hab mir ein Taxi heimgenommen. Nach einer viertel Umrundung der Ringstraße hab ich dem Taxifahrer 5 Euro in die Hand gedrückt, damit er mich aussteigen lässt - SCHNELL! Puh! Nochmal gutgegangen! ;) So, jetzt war ich am Schwarzenbergplatz und von dort ist es selbst nüchtern noch eine Stunde heim. Nachdem ich nicht mehr fokussieren konnte und mir furchtbar übel war, hab ich den David angerufen, der mich dann glücklicherweise abgeholt hat. Um dreiviertel 3 war ich dann im Bett. Überraschenderweise ging es mir recht gut am heutigen Tag. Auch das Essen hat mir hervorragend geschmeckt. Wir waren aber auch in einem hervorragenden Lokal - Ulrich Lacroix in der Berggasse 29 im 9.Bezirk. Kann ich nur weiterempfehlen! David and I got married today! Our wedding started at 20 past 10 in the morning in the civil registry office in the eigth district of Vienna. I’m glad that I made it … well, yesterday I partied a bit too much! Actually I planned to do the bridal shower party a week before the marriage - just in case! But things never work out the way they’re supposed to! Yesterday some friends of me who couldn’t come last week and I repeated this party… Anyways, at about half past one I couldn’t drink any more and took a cab back home. At least I tried to! After only a short trip I gave five Euros to the cab driver so that he stops before something happens… I made it out just in time! But now I had to walk back home. From the place I was then I had to walk at least an hour back home - even when I’m able to walk straight! Fortunately I managed to call David who picked me up so we could walk home together! At a quarter to three I was in bed finally! However, I felt quite good today. I could even eat lunch with a gusto. Well, we’ve been to a delicious restaurant - Ulrich Lacroix in Berggasse 29 in the ninth district of Vienna. I can recommend this restaurant to everyone!
