Picture of the Week

Fotos - 1 year ago - cheesy

Since I didn’t want to come up with the time to shoot a picture a day this year I decided on shooting a picture a week. I want to post them on a regular basis (weekly if I find the time). Now I show you all the pics David and I already shot this year all in one heap:

Week 0 – 2011 (or Week 52 – 2010): Pink Rose

I shot this slightly dry rose at my parents house. It was standing together with its brothers and sisters in a little vase. You can see the others in the background. I edited the picture a bit to grey out the background and put the focus on the one rose.

Week 1 – 2011: The Sun is Smiling at You!

Right in the first week of 2011 we could watch the wonder of a partial eclipse. The sky was mostly clear so David took this wonderful picture from the parking lot of his office. So no – this is not a night shot!

Week 2 – 2011: Spa at Night

This time the shot was really taken at night! After we spent a week in bed with a heavy version of the flu, we went to the spa Blumau. Here is a nightly picture of the foggy blues!

Week 3 – 2011: A Glimpse of the Moon

A scary looking moon was glimpsing through these equally scary looking trees at the train station in Klosterneuburg.

Week 4 – 2011: Austrian Energy

For the current scavenger hunt round a picture of “Energy” was needed. As a real Austrian I had to post this one – to get some education overseas. In New Zealand and US it is not a common knowledge that Red Bull is an Austrian product…

Week 5 – 2011: Microcosmos

We had the first really nice sunny day this week here in Klosterneuburg. And of course we took the chance to go for an extended walk. Unfortunately the weather was not clear so only the close ups were really nice. But this little moss and twigs make a good picture, still!

Week 6 – 2011: Forked Path

For the first time we walked around the area of our new apartment. And we were positively surprised with extended park areas right next to our apartment buildings. SO we can look forward to an active summer!

Week 7 – 2011: Purple Pen

Another picture for the scavenger hunt. This time the theme was – can you guess it? Purple! Almost impossible to believe that I didn’t choose the color for this picture. Well, of course I chose the color of the pen I bought… but not to make a purple picture out of it!

Week 8 – 2011: Titanic

A replica of the Sinking of the Titanic – and all of it in our living room! No comments!

Week 9 – 2011: New Kitchen

Yippee! Our new kitchen arrived! I spent two days watching two strong guys drilling, cutting and fixing my kitchen. That was great! And here’s the result!

Week 10 – 2011: Swans

Not very far from our apartment is the “Old Danube” – a sidebranch of Danube river. This week I walked over there and found a huge group of beautiful swans and ducks!

Week 11 – 2011: Balloons

At one of my quite frequent visits to the local hardware store (Baumax) I was lucky to be at the day of the new opening of one of the departments. Not only did I get a bucket, a pen and a knife but I also got a great shot of the yellow and red balloons in front of a wonderful blue sky!

Week 12 – 2011: Yellow Crocus

Spring is here! This and a lot of other wonderful shots of spring flowers I could take in Eichgraben. And all under a wonderful blue spring sky!

Week 13 – 2011: I’m Watching You!

Don’t you feel watched? This year’s anniversary we spent at the zoo (together with hundreds of others). This flamingo kept a careful watch on us!

Week 14 – 2011: Tiger

And as once is not enough I went to the zoo again the following week and as you can see – it was worth it!

Week 15 – 2011: Red Tulips

Even in April we got sunshine! Here’s a beautiful shot of my parents tulips.

Week 16 – 2011: Red Beet

Here’s the last picture of last week – a red beet root. David and I now have a subscription at a local organic farm. They deliver a box full of fruits and vegetables every week. This week we had red beet amongst other delicious things!

That was the first post but now they should come regularly!

Urlaub / Vacation - 1 year ago - cheesy

We spent five days in the spa – hot water, massages, sport and going for walks. Very relaxing! Here are a few pictures:

Honeymoon-Weekend

Ausflug / Familie / Family / Feste / Seasonal / ShortTrip - 6 years ago - cheesy

David and I spent our honeymoon in a beautiful spa in Blumau in Styria. This spa is designed by the famous Austrian architect Friedensreich Hundertwasser. He has quite a distinctive style in his buildings which I like very much.
The spa itself was very relaxing! We bathed in 36 degrees celsius warm water, enjoyed an Ayurveda-massage and a pomace pack and tried out the cuisine of the spa hotel and of the local pub in Blumau.
The weather couldn’t have been any better – bright sunshine during day and an icy chill during the night. (This was most fun, when we came out of the lukewarm water!) An unforgettable weekend!
