30th birthday

I celebrated my 3oth birthday together with friends and family in the Heurigen Stift St. Peter and I think everyone had a good time! Unfortunately I could only stay in Austria for the weekend as I have to pack my bags – finally I’m transferred to Austria. My future boss requested me to be there on March 8th. So my current boss had to let me go. The story behind the delay is funny anyways: Actually I’m waiting since beginning of this year for my relief from Norway, so that I can go to Austria. The girl in Austria is waiting for me, so that she can go to Norway. And guess what the Norwegian guy is doing – of course, waiting for the Austrian girl! Amazing, isn’t it?

New Eve Party and Repeat

For New Year’s Eve not many of our colleagues had time to party. And – most important – Fabricio couldn’t party because he was on a job. Probably once in a year (or less often) there is a job where the only engineer in the base who can do it is the manager … and this happened right on New Year’s Eve! So Germana, two of Fabricio’s friends from Austria, Isabel, Daniel, David and I were the only ones going to Bremen for the party.
First we’ve been in a Brasilian restaurant – great! You pay once and can eat as much as you want. The waiters are walking around the restaurant with meat which they just cut straight onto your plate. So the meat keeps coming until you can’t walk anymore…
After this Brasilian BBQ we went to Stubu, a 5 floor discothek, playing Oldies, 80ies&90ies, Black & R’n'B, Latin and House). At midnight we went in front of the Disco to see the fireworks. After a while we decided to go back in because the guys shooting the firecrackers in front of the bar where all totally drunk. We stayed there until 3:30 in the morning.
But now back to todays party! Again a party in my staff (party) house! Isabel helped me prepare the food and decorate the living room. It was really cool! At midnight we had champaign and I almost burned down the house… don’t try lighting more than ten sparklers at the same time – they become really hot!
At around one o’clock almost everyone left. Only Daniel and Isabel stayed. But at about half past one two late guests, Kevin and Tracey, came and stayed for about half an hour before leaving back to another party again. Happy New Year!

Christmas Party

Christmas Party in our house! We didn’t want anyone to be home alone for Christmas so we decided to make a party in the staff house. I took the day off to prepare food and everything for the party. I made a Tiramisu and several bread spreadings. Fabricio’s objective was to find a Christmas tree, but in Germany it is almost impossible to find a tree for a good price. On Sunday noon I already thought that we bought the Christmas baubles for nothing. Then I thought I’ll just call Isabel, because she’s from Germany and she might have an idea where to find a Christmas tree on Sunday the 24th. She said:”Well, I have a friend who lives around here and her father sells Christmas trees…” So in no time the problem was solved and we had a wonderful 2.5 m high Christmas tree in our living room. We still didn’t have a stand for the tree, but we improvised a bit and took a garbage can from the shop and filled it with some stones.
The party started at 7:30 and at 8:30 most of the people finally arrived. We were 15 people all together and close to midnight we started singing and didn’t stop until three in the morning. Good party!
