Christmas 2008

Feste / Seasonal - 3 years ago - cheesy

Even though I got the flu I got the Christmas feeling! Yesterday I went out to buy a Christmas tree and balls. As there are no more small trees in Vechta, I had to buy a large spruce tree – it just fit into my tiny Ford. But to get a stand for the tree was even worse! In the third shop I’ve been in they could even give me details. The girl at the counter said: “It’s EVERY year the same, the stands are ALWAYS sold out LONG before Christmas ALL OVER Vechta! EVERY year! You’re definitely not gonna be the last one to ask!” Okay… if the Christmas tree stands are sold out EVERY year LONG before Christmas, why don’t they buy more of them? I mean, can’t they imagine beforehands that it’s gonna be like LAST year? They are so stupid!

So David and I had to be creative: as a stand we now use a shiny red trash can. With the net it was covered in, we tied it to our curtain rods. :) My Mum suggested to hang our clothes there to dry…

Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas Party

Arbeit / Feste / Freunde / Friends / Seasonal / Work - 5 years ago - cheesy

Christmas Party in our house! We didn’t want anyone to be home alone for Christmas so we decided to make a party in the staff house. I took the day off to prepare food and everything for the party. I made a Tiramisu and several bread spreadings. Fabricio’s objective was to find a Christmas tree, but in Germany it is almost impossible to find a tree for a good price. On Sunday noon I already thought that we bought the Christmas baubles for nothing. Then I thought I’ll just call Isabel, because she’s from Germany and she might have an idea where to find a Christmas tree on Sunday the 24th. She said:”Well, I have a friend who lives around here and her father sells Christmas trees…” So in no time the problem was solved and we had a wonderful 2.5 m high Christmas tree in our living room. We still didn’t have a stand for the tree, but we improvised a bit and took a garbage can from the shop and filled it with some stones.
The party started at 7:30 and at 8:30 most of the people finally arrived. We were 15 people all together and close to midnight we started singing and didn’t stop until three in the morning. Good party!

Christmas party

Arbeit / Feste / Seasonal / Work - 5 years ago - cheesy

Yesterday night was the SLB Christmas Party in a Restaurant in Vechta. Schlumberger filled a whole ballroom! The music was a bit boring in the beginning but after some hours we could finally convince the DJ to play younger music – and finally he managed to play good music and the party lasted until 3:30 in the morning! We didn’t like to go back home then, but the restaurant finally closed and we moved on to Wunderbar, a discotheque in Vechta.
