We did it! Windischgarsten (our little hut there) is emptied out and we can start tearing it down and building the new house! We hope for a nice Christmas and New Year there!

Visit to the Mosque

With my company we went half a day to Vienna’s biggest Mosque, close to where I live. After a tour through the Mosque Alaiddin Akyildiz, an Islamic religion teacher, explained a lot about Islam and the Koran and answered all of our quite critical questions.

Four Days in Belgium

David had a puppet conference in Ghent in Belgium on Thursday and Friday. So we took the night train from Vienna to Cologne on Wednesday night to be in Cologne in the early morning. There we rented a car to go to Ghent. Thursday I had some time to see Ghent. Unfortunately the whole city center was full of construction sites. Friday I went over to Jülich to visit my former colleagues. Saturday David and I spent together in Ghent walking through the town and doing a boat tour. The strong wind that day made the dust from the construction sites fly all around the city which was really bad. On Sunday we left early because it was raining really bad. We went to Brussels to visit the Atomium which was really interesting. For dinner we went to our favourite sushi bar in Cologne before we took the night train back to Vienna.

I Quit My Job

For those of you who didn’t know yet – I quit last Tuesday. Since I was supposed to stay in Vechta until further notice I decided to quit this game for good. At 5:30 p.m. on the same day I was back in Linz and David and Uli picked me up with a transporter. Together we emptied my apartment in Kronstorf and went straight to Klosterneuburg.

Wednesday was my last official workday and I stopped by in Ennsdorf shortly to give back all my stuff. As I was close by anyways I went over to Windischgarsten to visit Conny.

Since Thursday I’m officially unemployed!

If anyone is interested in details regarding my resignation feel free to ask me personally. I don’t want to go too much into detail on this blog.

What a day…

It started right away in the morning. Yesterday evening I had the idea to park the company car in my garage – biiig mistake. This morning I didn’t find my way out and hit the garage wall. And my company is very strict on driving. So straight to the company to tell my boss. (BTW, it was the first day I had the car…)

After this morning stress the day went on along the same lines. At 10 Vechta called – I need to do a job at 8 p.m. in Vechta. So very quickly we find a flight Linz – Frankfurt – Bremen leaving at 3.

Jelena gives me a quick ride home and – of course – I forget my home keys on my desk. Jelena drives back to get them limiting my time for packing and having lunch to 45 minutes. But I manage to be right on time for my taxi – but my taxi isn’t… I wait one full hour until my taxi arrives and I’m really glad, that Jelena insisted on getting the taxi 2 hours early!

We manage it barely in time to get to the airport. I still have 45 minutes left so I still could check in … could check in – if my flight wasn’t cancelled.

Finally I get another flight Linz – Graz – Frankfurt – Bremen, starting at 5 p.m., landing in Bremen at 10:30. Only five and a half hours! To drive there takes eight!

After I make it to the wellsite at 11:30, the day is almost over and no more disasters happen!

I got a new apartment! Only 15 minutes from my workplace. The apartment is huge compared to Vechta – living room, dining room with kitchen, bathroom, toilet, bedroom and office area! Pictures will be posted on Sunday, when David and I take the SLR to Ennsdorf!

First Workday

Today was my first working day in my new location. The base is tiny and my room is gigantic compared to Vechta. I share a nice large friendly office with Andreas. Unfortunately I haven’t met him today, but I met lots of other nice and cool colleagues! I think I’m gonna like it here! Here are some pics of my new office:
